Highland Lakes Information
The Highland Lakes Water District serves the Highland Lakes subdivision about 5 miles northwest of Divide, Colorado. The District is a Special District of the State of Colorado and is administered by a board of five elected residents of the subdivision who oversee a licensed water operator to ensure the system is operating at optimal standards and in compliance with the water quality regulations of the State of Colorado.
Water is supplied to customers by 23 wells located throughout the subdivision. The District owns very senior water rights for 28-acre feet of water in the community and also owns and maintains its two lakes and seven beaver ponds. Water is pumped through a system of 13 miles of water lines to a treatment and storage facility close to the entrance of the subdivision on County Road 512. Highland Lakes has 466 lots, with 367 residences currently tapped into the water system. In 2024, 9.13 million gallons of water were delivered to customers.
